Working as a single entity to strengthen product offering

17.01.2019

Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division has recently announced the formation of its Production Software business.

190114-P2Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division announced early January 2019 the formation of its Production Software business, comprising Vero Software, Fasys and Spring Technologies. The metrology and manufacturing solution specialist belonging to Hexagon, a global leader in digital solutions, says this move of the three acquisitions will adopt Hexagon’s corporate identity to reflect the company's broadening expertise in production technology.

Hexagon acquired CAD CAM software company, Vero Software, in 2014, while continuing to expand and diversify the company's offering. Its 2017 acquisition of Fasys brought tooling and resource management software and shop-floor automation and integration expertise into the company's portfolio. With the acquisition of Spring Technologies last year, Hexagon included CNC simulation technology for G-code verification and workflow optimisation to its offering range.

The components of this rich portfolio of technology combined together allows for the expertise to develop solutions for reverse engineering and on-machine measurement, Hexagon says.

CEO of the Production Software business Steve Sivitter explained: “Over the last five years, our available technology and solutions have evolved considerably from the CAD CAM heritage of Vero.” Sivitter added that the company increasingly focused on developing product synergies that would help customers improve quality and productivity. He noted that the technology experts from Vero, Fasys and Spring were already working very closely together for some time, so operating together as a single entity was a natural step for the company. As such, all are excited at the prospect of the possibilities for the creation of innovative manufacturing intelligence solutions in the production software space.

Norbert Hanke, President of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division, added: “The formation of the Production Software business complements our design and engineering and metrology businesses, enabling us to build unique solutions for our customers in manufacturing.” Hanke also said that as the company develops this approach further, its experience of leveraging data from all phases of the manufacturing process will help create Autonomous Connected Ecosystems (ACE), which help smart factories.
