Milacron’s renewed focus on new product development comes after a successful showing at NPE 2015 in March. The company had the largest booth in NPE history – over 25,000 sq. ft - which provided a platform to showcase a number of new Ferromatik injection molding machines and fresh product technologies, including the launch of Klear Can.

Milacron’s renewed focus on new product development comes after a successful showing at NPE 2015 in March. The company had the largest booth in NPE history – over 25,000 sq. ft - which provided a platform to showcase a number of new Ferromatik injection molding machines and fresh product technologies, including the launch of Klear Can. Produced using the award-winning Ferromatik 280, Klear Can is a revolutionary co-injection method that enables plastic to replicate the benefits of metal and glass storage solutions. The three-layer plastic construction allows for a shelf life of 2-5 years.

The Ferromatik 580 was used in a groundbreaking cell, showing high speed co-injection of industrial pails using re-grind material. The versatile machine allowed for the use of 50% recycled material in the core, thus greatly reducing the overall cost of the plastic part. The technology platform received accolades at the show with interest from many. It also helped to generate new ideas about the vast number of possibilities using co-injection technology.

Teaming up with the above two machines was the Ferromatik 360, producing high speed beverage caps. The 3 machines created a compelling portfolio for the packaging market platform and were star attractions at the large show.
In addition to a strong showing at NPE and Plast, Milacron is preparing to introduce the Ferromatik ELEKTRON Evolution – a new, comprehensive, hydraulic, flexible machine construction range with an innovative operating system for practically any application. The company is also set to release a new machine catalogue with dozens of new products and upgrades in the spring. The catalogue features the new Ferromatik K-TEC high-performance machine construction range that will be introduced in the second quarter. A preview was carried out at Plast show in Italy and the comprehensive presentation is planned for the Fakuma 2015 Trade Fair at the Milacron booth in Hall B3/3203.
Adjustments to the overall machine product portfolio have been well received by the market. These product expansions include:
- Customizing equipment to meet European standards for the Ferromatik ELEKTRON range
- Extending the product life cycle in Ferromatik K-TEC and Ferromatik ELEKTRA Evolution
- Completing the modular construction kit structure in the Ferromatik F-series
As product development continues in Europe, Milacron is offering new employment opportunities in a number of key areas, including engineering, sales, and project management, helping to solidify and ensure service levels across the region.
The Milacron Uniloy brand has also been making waves. At NPE, the Uniloy IBS 199-3 converted to Hybrid design to reduce energy was showcased. Customers received latest updates at Plast in Italy.
Milacron’s new hybrid machine has a direct electric screw drive and servo hydraulic injection for precise shot-to-shot consistency and significantly reduced energy consumption. The recently showcased work cell featured a 20-drop, in-line Mold-Masters Axiom Synchro-Plate Valve Gate system that is rheologically balanced along with a 33-zone integrated TempMaster iM2 Hot Runner Temperature Controller for precise control. The Axiom system carries a 10-year warranty against heater failure when used with the TempMaster controller. The turnkey work cell, which included a hopper loader, mold temperature control units, chiller and other auxiliary equipment, is supported by Milacron’s single source capability and global aftermarket support.
